First Providence Baptist Church: A Legacy of Faith and Leadership

First Providence Baptist Church (FPBC) has a proud history of over 164 years, marked by faith, resilience, and dedication. Founded in Hamburg, South Carolina, the church endured significant challenges, including devastating floods and the hardships of the Great Depression, which prompted its relocation to higher ground on Barton Road in North Augusta, SC. The new sanctuary was completed in 1931 through the sacrificial efforts of its members.

Under strong pastoral leadership, FPBC has grown spiritually and physically. Milestones include the establishment of the First Providence Learning & Development Center and the First Providence Foundation, which have provided vital resources to the community. In January 2024, Rev. Hayward Lamar Dock, Jr., became FPBC’s fifteenth pastor, continuing the church’s legacy of faith and service.
